And sigh of relief. Milestone 1: All students here and accounted for. They checked in to their residences yesterday and apparently got some of the best rooms in the building (this is how UMN rolls in Roma). Francesco, one of the Center staff who lives in Trastavere (I told all the cautionary tale of being trapped in a bank vestibule) showed students which trams and busses to take to get them into the Centro Storico. We met at the Piazza dell’Orologio and had a delicious and traditional Italian meal in a Mom-and-pop restaurant in the the Historic Center: lasagna, parmigiana and tiramisu. Today is a general orientation followed by an afternoon sketching charette. Let the games begin.
