Day 8 [Cartographic Corrections]

1748-nolli-map-romaStudents had the morning to work on their course assignment and we met in the afternoon to discuss where things were at.  Where things were at,  were – alas – HUGE.  After realizing the scale of the drawing would likely take up the entire piazza outside the center where we meet, we decided that a smaller, more manageable scale made more sense – pragmatically, psychologically, emotionally, graphically, realistically and desperately.  We hashed out some ideas for a base-map and what it should contain, and, I think, came up with a clearer conceptual agenda for the map itself – and how students could work and negotiate edge conditions with adjacent sites and sections.  A smaller map it is – and we’ll keep updates coming as the map emerges…
