Birthday Abroad

The birthday duo and The Hat.

Katrina Matejcik and I had the pleasure of enjoying our St. Patty’s day birthdays in Istanbul on Monday. It was a wonderful day full of friends in an awesome city. My buddies got me a delicious tiny fruit tart with strawberries. Better than any birthday cake my mom has ever baked LOL just kidding mom. We explored around the city a bit by day and investigated the nightlife on Istakal. One of my life-long goals was fulfilled this weekend: I am now the proud owner of one of those umbrella hat things. Yes, it does feel as awesome as it looks.

Tonight we went to a neat restaurant called Akdeniz Hatay Sofrasž. Their special dish was a called the flaming chicken. It was basically a chicken inside a giant pile of salt that they set on fire. After the flames fade Hafsa did a rockstar job of chipping the salt away with a mallet and chisel. It was some darn good chicken, too.
